Frequently Asked Questions

A penetration test looks for exploitable technical vulnerabilities in specific systems or applications. A Security Health Check is broader, it evaluates your security maturity across governance, leadership, risk management, process, controls and technical posture. We are not just asking ‘can this system be breached?’ but ‘how well does this organisation manage its security risk?’ Many organisations need both, and we can advise on sequencing.
Typically two to four weeks from kick-off to final report, depending on the scope and size of your organisation. The assessment itself involves a structured set of interviews, documentation reviews and technical checks. We work around your operational calendar and keep disruption to a minimum.
For the technical security review component, yes – read-only access to key areas of your environment is needed. We agree the scope and access requirements with you before we start, and everything is conducted under a confidentiality agreement. We do not retain any data beyond what is needed for the engagement.
We typically need time with your IT or security lead, a member of senior leadership or the board, and relevant process owners depending on scope. The interviews are structured and take no more than an hour each. We do not require large group workshops or extended time commitments from busy teams.
A maturity assessment across each domain we have reviewed, an executive summary suitable for board presentation, a prioritised remediation roadmap with clear rationale, and a briefing session to walk through the findings. Everything is written for a business audience, not just the IT team.
